If you've been to a cottage in the last 20 years, Teddy's probably had a hand in more than a few of your meals.
"I've travelled all over this delicious planet of ours seeking our BBQ perfections," says Reader. "From snout to tail, Bali to Boston and Mongolia to Montreal." Today, his focus is on helping novice grillers become masters of the flame with simple ideas and recipes real people can follow.
Teddy's first high-profile gig was at the SkyDome Hotel as its inaugural Exective Chef from 1982-1992. He was subsequently lured to Loblaw's where, as the Product Development Chef, he came up with signature staples like PC Real Jerk Wings and PC Thick and Cheesy Burgers.
In 1997 he struck out on his own and has since developed a line of wildly popular sauces with signature names like Red Neck White Sauce and Beerlicious Barbecue. He's also published 17 barbecue cookbooks, including the award-winning Napoleon series.
Now one of Canada's most famous chefs and food entertainers, Ted Reader's passion for the open flame is legendary. He owns over 100 barbecues; he's set the world record for the largest hamburger ever grilled (590 pounds); he's been profiled in the best magazines, including GQ; and he's the celebrity spokesperson or culinary consultant for some of the country's largest food conglomerates and retailers like McCain, Jack Astor's Safeway, Costco, TGI Friday's and more.
